Summer season is officially here and we think thats one of the best times to  explore new cities, make core memories and soak up all the warm weather. If you've been wondering where to head next, let us introduce you to one of our favorite OTP gem's: Woodstock, Georgia. Tucked right in the heart of Cherokee County, Woodstock is an extremely vibrant community that offers a wide variety of quaint charm, rich history, and modern attractions. Think an abundance or shopping, the arts, music festivals, endless restaurants and so much more. Once you visit, you'll already be planning your next adventure back before you even leave. It's even been named one of the best places to live by Money.com... and we may be a little biased because we are lucky enough to have our second location right in the middle of it all. 

1. Downtown Woodstock’s Charm

Right when you get there, one of the first things that you might notice about Woodstock is how beautifully preserved the downtown area is. Spending time walking through Downtown Woodstock kind of feels like stepping back in time, but perfectly with a modern touch. You have its historic buildings, quaint streets, and very family friendly atmosphere and don't let the old-world charm fool you; Downtown Woodstock is extremely bustling with energy and people of all ages most of the time. 

Right in the heart of the downtown is filled with unique shops such as Spirited Boutiques, cozy cafes like Bizarre Coffee or The Sweet Read, and top-notch restaurants like Prime 120 or Century House. So, if you're looking for a chic boutique, a brewery, or a local art gallery, you'll can be sure to find it here. Shopping in Downtown Woodstock is really a wonderful experience in itself.

If you're a foodie who likes options, you're in for a treat. From seafood to international cuisine, you'll find that the restaurants here offer a variety of diverse and delicious options. Many eateries offer outdoor patio seating which is perfect for enjoying a meal while soaking in the summer vibes. Be sure to check out some of the local favorites like Tenku Sushi, Deep Roots for some amazing wine and small plates, and Sizzling Spices for a deliciously cultural dining experience.

2. The Elm Street Cultural Arts Village

If art is your jam, The Elm Street Cultural Arts Village is a must-visit. This spirited arts center is one of the cultural hubs of Woodstock, that offers everything from theater productions to visual arts exhibits. During the summer season you can enjoy a long list of outdoor events like festivals or markets, making it a go-to spot to soak up some creativity under the sun.

One of the major highlights of this area is the Lantern Series, which features several live music performances all in a unique setting. Imagine that you're sitting back and enjoying a concert under the stars, that is also surrounded by beautifully lit lanterns. In the arts village can sign up for workshops or classes, so if you're feeling inspired, you can a little dirty and try your hand at pottery, painting, or even acting.

This area is also home to the Reeves House Visual Arts Center, which doubles as a coffee shop + gallery and showcases rotating exhibits from both local and regional artists. Stop by when you're downtown to discover new art, meet some local artists and maybe even take home a piece that speaks to you.

3. Woodstock’s Farmers Market

We are big fans of markets and think it's one of the best ways to experience a new place. Walking right into its local food, and Woodstock’s Farm Fresh Market is the place to do just that. Held every Saturday morning through December 28th from 8:30am-12pm, the market is a the place where you can find everything from farm-table fruits and vegetables to homemade jams, baked goods, and artisan crafts and breads. 

When you stroll through the market, you'll be greeted by the communities friendly vendors who are all eager to share their stories and unique products with you. This is a fantastic way for you to support local farmers and artisans while also enjoying the freshest ingredients the season has to offer. Whether you're looking for juicy peaches from Pearson Farm, heirloom tomatoes, or handmade soaps and loufas, you'll find it here.

Farm Fresh Market is also a great place to enjoy some live music and grab a bite from one of the food vendors that you'll find outside of Reformation Brewery. It's always a chill and relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for a Saturday morning hang. 4. Outdoor Adventures in Olde Rope Mill Park

If you're more of an outdoors kind of person, Olde Rope Mill Park is your go-to spot. This park proudly offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking. The park is located right along the Little River, providing stunning views and a peaceful setting.

You'll find that both the hiking and biking trails at Olde Rope Mill Park are well-maintained and cater to all skill levels. So, whether you're a seasoned hiker or a leisurely walk, you can find a trail that meets you where you're at. The Taylor Randahl Memorial Bike Trails are also wildly popular among mountain bikers, and offer a mix of terrain and difficulty levels.

For those who are more water inclined, the Little River is great for kayaking and paddle-boarding. You can bring your own equipment or rent from local outfitters such as Murph's Surf to take care of your needs. Paddling along the river offers a serene experience and allows you to take in the natural beauty of the area and maybe even spot some local wildlife.

5. Summer Concert Series at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Amphitheater

There’s something to be said about the community all getting together to enjoy live music on a warm summer evening, and the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Amphitheater provides the perfect setting for just that. This state-of-the-art venue hosts a fantastic summer concert series that draws in top musical acts from around the country.

This amphitheater is located smack dab in the heart of downtown Woodstock, making it the perfect walkable date night to grab dinner or drinks before the show. The concert series always features a diverse lineup of artists, so there's something for everyone.

One of the best parts about the summer concert series is the atmosphere. This lovely open-air venue creates a great environment for you to enjoy the music under the stars, and the lawn seating provides a relaxed, picnic-like experience. Bring a chair or blanket, pack some snacks, and enjoy a night of music and fun. 

6. Culinary Delights

Woodstock, Georgia is really food lover’s paradise. The dining scene there is diverse and delicious, offering a wide variety of options and covering all points for all tastebuds. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy patio dining and savor seasonal dishes.

Start your food tour with a visit to Ipps Pastaria, an Italian restaurant known for its giant garlic rolls and amazing pasta. For some wine, tapas and rooftop bar, head to Rootstock and Vine where you can small plates and a great selection of wine and whiskey.

If you're in the mood for something sweeter, try Pie Bar for some delicious pies or Sucre for french inspired desserts, coffee and macarons. And don't forget to check out Reformation Brewery, a local favorite that offers a great selection of brews and plenty of events.

Many of the Woodstock’s restaurants do offer outdoor seating that are perfect for enjoying a meal and soaking up the sun so, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or having a leisurely dinner with friends or family, you'll find plenty of options to satisfy your cravings.

7. Festivals and Events

Summertime in Woodstock is hand in hand with an abundance of festivals and community events. The town's calendar is always packed full of community activities that bring people out and offer new visitors a chance truly experience what the local culture is like.

One of the upcoming highlights is the July 4th Spectacular, a full day-long celebration that features a parade, live music, and a stunning fireworks display. It's a great family-friendly event that captures the spirit of the Fourth of July.
